Psychology Research Methods Question: Quizi-experiment v. True experiment?

Hi, I am having trouble identifying if it's an example of a quizi- or a true experiment. I think that since you can't really be assigned to be a male or a female, so it should be a quizi-experiment but somehow it just doesn't feel right... Help!

';Dr. Wood wanted to examine sex differences in startle response. She exposed people to different types of startle stimuli (e.g., loud noise, bright flash of light) and measured heart rate and galvanic skin response during exposure';

Thanks.Psychology Research Methods Question: Quizi-experiment v. True experiment?
Yes. Quasi-experiments are characterized by variables that the experimenter doesn't actually manipulate. So, gender is a quasi-experimental variable and the design is thus quasi-experimental.Psychology Research Methods Question: Quizi-experiment v. True experiment?
First, it would be quasi-experiment, not quizi; it's not a drink.

Second, this is a true experiment. The Dr. is randomly selecting (actually, just accepting volunteers) from a pool of males and females and the experimenter is looking at the differences between the two sexes.
The experiment mentioned is a ';true experiment';. Startle response is an experimental variable, while sex is a ';subject variable.'; A quasi-experiment would have to observe people as they were being startled in real life, rather than inducing a startle.
