Do you stick with tried and true name brands, or do you experiment with others?

Ever have a cheaper or generic brand name do a better job than a National brand? Do we get in a rut buying a name brand or shopping at a National chain?Do you stick with tried and true name brands, or do you experiment with others?
we have tried other brands. sometimes they work equally well as the name brands (usually health and beauty products), but sometimes they're not quite up to that standard (typically food and drink, especially soda!)

some reasons we might try something new: if it's on sale and marked down, or if we have a coupon to try it, or if it's something we've heard someone else recommend.

it's easy to go for the comfortable choice and pick a name brand you're comfortable with. i don't know if i'd call that a rut, so much as it's sticking with a proven winner, what works well for you.

we try to steer clear of any product from the dharma initiative... those products tend to get lost.Do you stick with tried and true name brands, or do you experiment with others?
I'm adventuruous, I will try other brands, and sometimes end up liking the cheaper ones better than the name brand.

I usually get what is on sale.
